NEWPORT, R.I. - Eastern Nazarene College had four women's basketball players score in double figures to rally past Salve Regina University, 63-54, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

The Lions, who trail in the overall series 35-11, have won the last four meetings, including the last two on the Rodgers Recreation Center floor.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Eastern Nazarene senior Jessica Franco (Phoenix, Ariz.) posted a double-double with game highs in points (16) and rebounds (10).
  2. Eastern Nazarene junior Shelby Holmes (Steely Lake, Mont.) scored 12 points and contributed five assists.
  3. Salve Regina senior Jillian Woodward (Orono, Maine) scored nine points and led the team in rebounding (seven) in 25 minutes off the bench.

Second-half shooting percentage for Eastern Nazarene (51.7 percent, 15-of-29 included four 3-pointers) after matching the hosts with six of 28 (21.4 percent) in the first half.

Turning Point
Mary Eden (So. Kingstown, R.I.) and Sam Gisonni (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) hit back-to-back 3-pointers for Salve Regina and an 11-point lead (5:11 in the second quarter), but Kayla Torio's (Manteca, Calif.) 3-pointer with 4:05 left in the first half began a 29-9 run over a 14:45 stretch for the visitors which included a pair of treys from both Franco and Holmes.
