Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 at home with a 22-8 victory over visiting New England College in non-conference action at Gaudet Field.

Series and Streaks
The Pilgrims own an 8-6 record in the all-time series however the Seahawks have won four in a row since 2010.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina senior Olivia Slysz (South Hadley, Mass.) scored five times to lead the Seahawks attack.
  2. New England College senior Alana Scott (Huntington, Vt.) scored five times and handed out an assist to lead the Pilgrims.
  3. Salve Regina senior Lindsey Smith (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored once and dished out two assists to become the Seahawks new all-time leader in career assists (59).

Key Stat of the Game
The Seahawks outscored the Pilgrims 20-5 after the Pilgrims took a 3-2 lead with 23:46 to go in the first half.

Turning Point
Salve Regina had closed the first half on an 8-2 run to lead 13-6 at the break. Olivia Slysz scored her third and fourth goals of the game thirty seconds apart to begin the second half, then shortly afterwards Maddie Villareal (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored her second to give the Seahawks a double-digit lead. The Pilgrims could never get closer than 10 goals and the Seahawks pulled away for the 22-8 victory.

Quick Hits

  • Christina Myers (River Edge, N.J.) made eight saves to improve to 4-2 between the pipes for the Seahawks.
  • McKenzie Gallasso (South Windsor, Conn.) got the start for the Pilgrims and went nearly 20 minutes, making one save, before being relieved by Ashley Coughlin who made two saves. Gallasso takes the loss and falls to 2-2 on the season.
  • Salve Regina held a 36-25 shot advantage and 25-16 in shots on the goal.
  • The Seahawks have scored 20 or more goals in each of their victories.
  • The Seahawks had nine different players score in the game while just two scored for the Pilgrims.
  • Tara Bainbridge (South Hadley, Mass.) netted the other three goals for the Pilgrims while assisting on two of Scott's.

Salve Regina (4-2) will play the second of four straight home games when it hosts Curry on April 2 at 7 p.m. New England College (4-2) travels to Keene.
