Jane Walsh returns to helm for her fifth season as Head Women’s Soccer Coach and sixth overall with the Seahawks.

Walsh sports a career record of 38-48-7 overall and 17-21-5 in conference play.  In 2019, she led Seahawks to 9-11-0 overall record, 4-4-0 conference record, earning the sixth seed in post-season, and Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinal berth for the fifth season straight.  Walsh spearheaded a memorable victory over conference rival, Endicott College, with a come-from-behind 2-1 performance.

Much of the Seahawk’s success came from strong first-years secured by Walsh.  Goalkeeper, Jenna Park and forward, Meagan McLaughlin stood out this season.  Both First-Year’s received conference recognition in 2019; both Park & McLaughlin made Third Team All-CCC, and McLaughlin was named the 2019 CCC Rookie of The Year.

Walsh took over the program in 2015, coming out of losing seasons the two years prior.  In her first season as Head Coach, Walsh took the Seahawks from 3-13-0 overall and 1-8-0 in conference, to 9-9-1 overall and 4-4-1 in conference.  That year, she led the program to their first post-season appearance since 2012, and their best record since 2011.

The Seahawks success has steadily progressed since then.  Under Walsh’s tutelage, the Seahawks have seen the following successes:

  • Post-season appearances consecutively since 2015
  • First Round ECAC Region 1 Championships in 2016
  • CCC Rookie of The Year Award in 2015 (Abby McMackin) and 2019 (Meagan McLaughlin)
  • Players on the All-CCC First, Second, and Third teams every season
  • Multiple CCC Weekly Player Awards
  • United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award in 2017-18

Prior to Salve, Walsh coached for Bruno United FC (Providence, RI) while pursuing a career in strength and conditioning, and physical therapy.  Ultimately, she decided to enter into collegiate coaching and is currently working towards her United Soccer Coaches National License.

Walsh’s playing career blossomed at Keene State College (after transferring from the University of Rhode Island), where she was a critical member of the Owl’s back line.  Keene State produced a 45-23-6 overall record during Walsh’s career, making the ECAC Tournament in 2010, 2011 (Runner-Up), and 2012.  In 2011, Walsh helped the Owls earn an undefeated conference record (7-0) and earned the LEC Regular Season Champions.  She earned all-tournament honors at the Cardinal Classic (Plattsburgh, NY) in 2012 and all-academic honors each year she was eligible.

Graduating in 2013, Walsh earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Science and a specialization in Exercise Science.  She is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Salve Regina.

Walsh resides on Aquidneck Island with her loving and goofy dog, a black lab/pit bull mix named Finnegan.
