Seahawks participate in Swim Across America

NEWPORT, R.I. -- The Salve Regina University swim team took part in Swim Across America's open water swim event held in Narragansett on Saturday, September 7.

This is the first time the Seahawks participated in this event. Swim Across America is a nonprofit that travels across the country, raising money for cancer research funding. Salve Regina's team raised just under $3,000 and had the opportunity to swim with local teams across Rhode Island and the New England area.

"Our college ambassador, Kaylee Collins, was responsible for signing us up for this event," said team captain Kayla Brundage. "She did an amazing job advocating for us to this organization, thus allowing us to participate in this amazing event!"

The annual charity event is held at Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett. Proceeds support cancer research at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. Participants had the option to complete a one mile, half mile or quarter mile swim.
