Seahawks swept by Anchorwomen, 8-0 and 4-3

Cronin homers in seventh to pull Salve Regina within one in nightcap

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Thursday, March 27, 2025) -- Emily Cronin homered with two outs in the top of the seventh of Game Two to bring Salve Regina University softball within one (4-3), but that was the final score as Rhode Island College swept the non-league doubleheader at Dayna A. Bazar Field -- 8-0 in five innings and 4-3 going the distance.

One big inning in Game One (seven-run fourth) spelled doom for the Seahawks (4-10, 0-0 NEWMAC) after the first two frames were scoreless. Salve Regina then scored a run in the top of the first of Game Two, fell behind 2-1, then tied the score in the second. The Anchorwomen had single runs in the third and fourth and took a two-run lead into the seventh. After Cronin's home run, a pair of walks put the potential tying run on second base, but a bouncer back to the circle closed the final at 4-3.
