Lions sweep Seahawks at Toppa Field

Cosciello cranks out four hits in seven at bats

NEWPORT, R.I. (Friday, April 11, 2025) -- Salve Regina University softball was swept in its NEWMAC doubleheader at home by Emerson College, 5-2 and 10-3, on a rainy Friday evening at Toppa Field in Newport, Rhode Island.

The Seahawks (8-16, 3-5 NEWMAC) had split each of the first three league doubleheaders, and did so with the Lions last season in Boston, but Emerson (12-8, 4-2 NEWMAC) took early leads in both games tonight and Salve Regina could only muster single runs across five out of 14 innings of offense.

The two sides did recognize the contributions of the umpires prior to tonight's twinbill, with Lew Calhoun and Peter Saucier presented "Officials Appreciation Week" towels by Emily Cronin (Salve Regina) and Caleigh Sheehan (Emerson).
