DARTMOUTH, Mass. (Saturday, September 20, 2025)-- The Salve Regina University women's cross country and men's cross country teams raced 6k and 8k respectively at the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational and freshman Cole Smith led the way for Salve on the men's side while Anna Weygang was the top Seahawk finisher for the women.

The Robert Dowd Cross Country Course features rolling hills on grass and an unpaved trail. The 8k loop includes a section of 1/4 mile on pavement. Robert A. Dowd, UMass Dartmouth's Head Cross Country and Track and Field, coach since the inception of those programs in 1967, is recognized as the founder of the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational which he established in 1973.

Gabe Victoria, Justin Ruffler, Gianni Soucy all had personal bests at the 8k. Cole Smith was the first Seahawk to cross the line in the Seahawks third meet. 

On the women's side, Ana Weygang led the way with a 6k PR. Catherine Minegar also ran a personal best in the 6k. In their first collegiate 6k, Delaney Roache and Emma McFadden rounded out the top five. The team was the first of NEWMAC teams, 17th overall and sixth among DIII schools.

The Seahawks next race at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, October 4, starting at 11 a.m.
