A 2007 graduate of Salve Regina University, Jay Punsky returned to his alma mater to lead the Seahawks men’s ice hockey program for the 2025–26 season. In his first year, Punsky guided Salve to a record setting 20–4–0 regular season. The team earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament for just the third time in 29 years. They also made history as the first independent team to qualify. For his efforts, Punsky was named a finalist for the Edward Jeremiah Award, recognizing him among the nation’s top coaches.
Punsky’s team success was matched by individual recognition, as Aidan Connolly and Cade DeStefani were named finalists for the Joe Concannon Award, with DeStefani also earning New England All-Star honors. Goaltender Selby Warren received an honorable mention to the USCHO All-American Team.
Prior to Salve, Punsky enjoyed success at both the collegiate and junior levels, including back-to-back postseason appearances at Worcester State University and multiple championship runs in junior hockey. Known for building strong culture and developing high-level talent, he has quickly re-established Salve Regina as a national contender.
Punsky holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management from New England College and a dual Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University.
