John Murray '15 begins his first season as a volunteer assistant men's lacrosse coach in the 2025 season.
Murray's most recent stop was at Post University where he served as an offensive coordinator for two years. In his time at Post, he oversaw the school’s first ten-win season (accomplished in both years). He also saw the development of the schools first All-American and installed an offense that set several individual and team records. While coaching in Connecticut, John also served as an assistant coach at Fairfield Prep in 2024. The 2024 team achieved a record of 21-1, winning the first ever Class LL State Championship. During the club seasons, John coached for Cavalry Lacrosse Club based in Fairfield County. He coached the 2025 team which reached a top 20 ranking in the USClub Lax Rankings and helped several players achieve their goals of playing Division I lacrosse.
Prior to moving to Connecticut, John lived in Napa, California and served as head coach for Justin-Siena High School from 2017-2022. In 2019, the team reached its first league final, won its first ever state playoff game, and reached North Coast Section Division II semifinals. In 2022, the team finished with a 18-2 record and won its first Vine Valley Athletic League Title and reached the NCS D2 Finals. Murray was named coach of the year in 2018. Murray has the most wins all-time at Justin Siena.
While in California, Murray was a coach and director of 101 Lacrosse from 2017 to 2022, coaching multiple teams, clinics, and camps and was also the ADVNC Lacrosse Sonoma/Napa director in 2022. At ADVNC, Murray worked at the Best in the West Showcase, West Coast Showdown, and their Santa Cruz camp.
Prior to Justin Siena, Murray was the head JV coach and varsity assistant for Seton Hall Prep. In that time the team won back-to-back Essex county championships and reached the state final in 2017. The team featured multiple future Division-I, Team USA, and PLL players.
Murray Graduated Salve Regina University in 2015 with a BA in Administration of Justice.
