NEWPORT, R.I. - Junior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) tallied a match-high 23 kills to lead Colby-Sawyer College to a 3-1 win over Salve Regina University in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) volleyball action on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Rodgers Recreation Center.

Sophomore Kristin Sawyer (Walpole, Mass.) and senior Mickey LaPan (Medway, Mass.) each recorded 19 digs for the Chargers, who rebounded from a loss to Endicott College earlier in the day and improved to 18-12 (8-2 TCCC) on the season. Senior Deanna Salter (Westwood, Mass.) led the Seahawks with 13 kills in her final home game in the blue, white and green.

The Seahawks recorded a .263 hitting percentage to win the first game, 25-17. Salter and classmate Brittney Canaff (Paramus, N.J.) led the Seahawks with four kills each. Doody recorded three for the Chargers.

The Chargers bounced back to take game two, 25-22, behind six kills from Doody and three from junior Ashley Finethy (Alton Bay, N.H.). They posted a .357 hitting percentage and overcame four kills from Salve Regina sophomore Julianne Barry (Randolph, Mass.) to tie the match at one.

Doody took control of the match in game three, recorded eight of her team's 12 kills en route to a 25-14 win. Salter and junior isa Zabel (Madison, Conn.) each recorded three kills for Salve Regina (10--9, 5-5 TCCC). Colby-Sawyer closed out the match behind six kills from Doody and four from junior Stef Turner (Boxborough, Mass.).

For the Seahawks, Canaff finished with 11 kills and 12 digs while freshman Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) notched a match-high 25 digs and Zabel a team-best 25 assists.

"We played two touch matches today against opponents who will finish at the top of the league," said Salve Regina head coach Jen Maxwell. "We know we can compete with them, and at times today, we showed that. If we face either of these teams again in the playoffs, we know we can give them a good match. We played fantastic on offense and defense at times today. The seniors did a great job, and Megan Clancy was solid as always for us."

Both teams have completed their regular season and will await their playoff pairings. The first round of TCCC Tournament will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
