NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's tennis swept all nine matches and dropped a total of three games against visiting Anna Maria College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference contest, the first meeting between the two schools in tennis.
"Not only did our players control their matches, they worked on putting new weapons into their games," said Seahawk head coach Ed Habershaw. "One player developed a serve and volley attack while another was taking the ball early and hitting more offensively."
The Seahawks honored senior captain Jessica Timpano [Narragansett, R.I.] who was playing in her final regular season fall home match.
"Jess has been an all-conference performer in each of her two full seasons with the program," said Habershaw. "But her greatest legacy is the leadership and compassion she has shown her teammates this season."
Salve Regina (5-6; 5-5 TCCC) finishes its regular season at Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday (noon) while the AmCats (3-11; 1-9 TCCC) end their season at home hosting the league's top team, Colby-Sawyer (1 p.m.).
