UNE upends Seahawks, 6-4

HOOKSETT, N.H. - Six different players scored to lead the University of New England men's ice hockey team to a 6-4 win against Salve Regina University in the consolation game of the Stovepipe/PAL Cup on Sunday afternoon. The win marks the first for the Nor'easters, who see their record improve to 1-4-o overall, while the Seahawks remain winless at 0-4-0.

 

Jack Nolin (Somersworth, N.H.) scored first for the Nor'easters 20 seconds into the game. The University of New England would also see a first period goal from Sean Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.), while Bryan Russell (Essex Junction, Vt.) and William Gomolinski (Western Springs, Ill.) recorded goals for Salve Regina to even the game at 2-2 at the end of the first.

 

David Mangenuto (Waltham, Mass.) gave Salve Regina the 3-2 advantage 3:40 into the second period and Russell would make it 4-2 6:14 later, but the University of New England would answer with four-straight goals from Scott McManaman (Amherst, Nova Scotia), Ted Fabian (Oakland, Maine), John Melancon (Lyman, Maine), and Matt Del Guidance (Oakland, Maine) throughout the second and third periods to take the final 6-4 advantage.

 

Connor Brogan (Hershey, Pa.) earned the win in net for the University of New England and stopped 24 shots for the Nor'easters. Rob Campbell (Braintree, Mass.) recorded 20 saves in the loss for the Seashawks.

 

The University of New England returns to action on December 3, hosting #8 Williams at 7:00 p.m. Salve Regina returns to action on December 4, traveling to face Western New England at 3:35 p.m.
