Box Score PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Sophomore David Graham (Rancho Cucamongo, Calif.) scored three goals Friday afternoon to lead Becker College past Salve Regina University, 8-2, in the third-place game of the Plymouth State University Men's Hockey Invitational at Hanaway Rink.
The Hawks scored twice in the first period and took a comfortable margin with the first three goals in the second frame. Becker went on to post its third win in its last four outings, evening its overall record at 5-5-2, while Salve dropped to 1-9-1. Graham was rewarded for his efforts for Becker with a selection to the All-Tournament Team.
Junior Jeremy Narducci (Apex, N.C.) and sophomore Mark Lotito (Staten Island, N.Y.) each added a goal and an assist in the win for Becker, and sophomore Cole Bell (Davenport, Iowa) collected three assists.
Freshman Michael Hollander scored on a slapshot six minutes into the game for his first career goal to give the Hawks an early lead. Graham snapped in his first of the game at the 11:36 mark to make it a 2-0 game after one period.
Junior Robert Johnson (Fenton, Mich.) scored his first goal of the season on a beautiful set-up by classmate Patrick Bellew (Newington, Conn.) eight minutes into the second period. Sophomore James Gordon (Belchertown, Mass.) followed with a power play goal at 11:15, and Graham added his second of the game at 13:14 to make it a 5-0 contest.
Salve Regina came to life with back-to-back goals by Mike Cenisio (Chadds Ford, Pa.) and Joe Colaianni (Monroe, N.Y.) at 15:30 and 18:48, the first of the season for Cenisio, but Graham finished off his hat trick in the final minute of the second frame to give the Hawks a 6-2 advantage after two. The Hawks pulled away in the final frame on goals by Norducci and Lotito, the fourth of the season for each.
Sophomore Shaun Millerick (Hampton, N.H.) made 19 saves to record the victory in goal for Becker. Jean-Christophe Turgeon (Sherbrooke, Quebec) took the loss in goal for Salve.
Becker will be back on the ice on Tuesday, hosting Fitchburg State University at 6:00 p.m., while Salve Regina returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 8, at UMass Dartmouth (4:30 p.m.).
