Sophomores Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Danny Kaufmann (Scotch Plains, N.J.), and Ryan Kelly (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each recorded a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, who improved to 4-2-1 (3-0-0) on the season, ran their win streak to three games, and extended their unbeaten streak to four (3-0-1). The Wildcats scored three power-play goals in the first period and took a 4-1 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes of play. Simone opened the scoring at 5:56 when he knocked home a rebound off a point shot by sophomore Max Carter (Royal Oak, Mich.). The Seahawks answered with a power-play marker of their own to tie the game at one at 7:19 as senior Joe Colaianni (Monroe, N.Y.) netted his third of the season. Senior Eric Spalt (Barnstable, Mass.) fired a shot from the point that was saved, but classmate Billy Sabia (Ridgefield, Conn.) collected the rebound and slid the puck to Colaianni, who was parked at the left side of the net. The assist was the first of two for both Spalt and Sabia on the evening.

Kaufmann finished off a 2-on-1 break with a shot from the left circle that made it 2-1 in favor of JWU at 9:31 of the first, and a power-play goal by Kelly eluded traffic and found the back of the net at 11:43 to put the visitors in front 3-1. Freshman Colin Flynn (Elverson, Pa.) closed the first-half scoring with his first-collegiate goal at 16:02. Junior Shane Viola (Oaklyn, N.J.) swept the puck in front of the net from the right corner, and Flynn knocked the puck past freshman netnimder rnest Foss (Rochester, N.H.).

The Seahawks got two goals in the opening 1:14 of the second to cut the deficit to one at 4-3. Senior Kevin Sullivan (North Branford, Conn.) took the puck from his own end, skated through the neutral zone, and let a wrister go from between the hash marks that beat JWU sophomore Jake Menzel (St. Louis, Mo.) over the blocker 59 seconds in. Fifteen second later, Russell saw his pass deflect off a JWU defender and past Menzel for his fifth of the season. The Wildcats then took a 5-3 lead with their third power-play goal of the evening at 5:29 of the period. Kaufmann sent a pass from the right boards over to junior Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, Miss.) at the left circle. He one-touched a pass to Pietrasiak, who tapped the puck into a wide-open right side of the net. Simone's second goal of the night came off a feed from Pietrasiak at 16:32 and gave the Wildcats a 6-3 lead through 40 minutes.

In the third, SRU sophomore Jonathan Cox (Norwalk, Conn.) potted his third goal of the season when he backhanded a rebound off a shot by Russell into the net at 5:34 to make it 6-4. Simone's third tally of the night - a short-handed goal at 14:44 - pushed the JWU lead back to three at 7-4. Kelly banked a puck off the skate of Foss that Simone chipped into the net. Salve Regina senior Lee Trott (Rehoboth, Mass.) answered with his first goal of the season at 17:24 before freshman Johnson & Wales freshman Ian DePasquale (Buffalo, N.Y.) sealed the win with an empty-netter at 19:01.

"Last night, we played well as a team and made simple plays. Tonight, we complicated things and had mental breakdowns," said Salve Regina head coach Andy Boschetto. "We didn't come to play. You can coach all you want, but the guys have to bring it. They can't take nights off."

Johnson & Wales outshot the Seahawks 49-33 and went 3-for-8 on the power play. The Seahawks, meanwhile, converted on two of their eight chances with the man advantage. Menzel made 28 saves to improve to 2-0-1 on the season while Foss stopped 41 Wildcats shots and fell to 1-3-0.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday when they travel to Amherst for a 3 p.m. The Wildcats host Fredonia State on Friday at 5:35 p.m.
