WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - Salve Regina senior Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) set the all-time program record for career digs as the Seahawks went 0-3 at the Crabtree Invitational this Saturday. The Seahawks took several hard fought losses, dropping decisions to Elmira, 3-2 (25-23, 25-15, 16-25, 25-27, 15-12), Plymouth State, 3-1 (25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 25-16), and Eastern Connecticut State, 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 25-27, 25-21).

Clancy surpassed Amanda Harmon's (2005-08) previous record of 1,749 digs, finishing the tournament with a total of 1,779 career digs. Clancy had 38 digs versus Elmira, 28 against Plymouth State, and 20 more facing ECSU. She currently leads the Seahawks with an average of 5.47 digs per set.

The Seahawks began the day with a very tough 3-2 loss to Elmira. After dropping the first two sets, the Seahawks battled back to take the next two frames, forcing a fifth set which they dropped 15-12. Salve Regina was led by sophomore Jennifer Duggan (Merrimck, N.H.) who had a team-high 11 kills and was selected to the All-Tournament Team later in the day. Classmate Katelyn Beauregard (Dartmouth, Mass.) chipped in with 10 kills while sophomore Taylor Violet (Tiverton,R.I.) dished-out 41 assists.

The Seahawks dropped their second match of the day with a 3-1 loss to Plymouth State. It was during this match that Clancy broke the Salve Regina record for digs, totalling 28 digs in the contest. Duggan once again led Salve Regina with nine kills, while freshman Leah LoConte (Marshfield, Mass.) had 25 assists filling in for the injured Violet.

Salve Regina's day came to a close with a 3-1 loss versus ECSU. Junior Clare Adams (New Concord, Ohio) starred with 15 kills and 20 digs, while LoConte dished-out 38 assists.

The Seahawks will look to right the ship this Wednesday when they hit the road to face Wentworth in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match starting at 7 p.m.
