Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior Kelly Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) notched a hat trick in the opening half to spark the Salve Regina University field hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Western New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest at Golden Bear Stadium. The visiting Seahawks up their record to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference, while Western New England falls to 3-7 and 0-3.
Kelly Burke recorded her hat-trick with goals in the 8th, 12th and 30th minutes. SRU enjoyed a 3-0 lead going into the intermission, outshooting the Golden Bears 18 to five over the first 35 minutes.
Western New England cut the deficit to 3-1 by opening the second-half scoring in the 59th minute on Van Huysen's team-leading fourth goal of the season from the top of the striking circle.
However, Lisa Bucci (Irvington, N.Y.) gave SRU its final margin with a goal 10 minutes later on a pass from Alexandria Rizzo (Hopedale,Mass.), who finished with two assists.
The Seahawks will return to action on Wednesday, hitting the road to face Regis at 7 p.m.
