PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Six different Seahawks found the net as Salve Regina defeated Assumption, 6-3, Wednesday night for the first time since 2008.

After taking a 2-1 lead going into the second period, junior Kenny Craig (Manchester, N.H./The Tilton School) took a quick pass from sophomore Joe Kuta (Andover, Mass./Phillips Andover (ISL))  to put the hosts up, 3-1. Junior Chad Hollenshade (Lutherville, Md./Avon Old Farms) took advantage of the first power play of the game for either team with his third goal of the season with the eventual game winner off an assist from sophomore Michael Naso (Londonberry, N.H./Mass Cyclones (AtJHL)) and junior Chase Davis (Dallas, Texas/Milton Academy (ISL)).

With less than four minutes to play in the second period, freshman Peter Gintoli (Monroe, Conn./Bay State Breakers (EJHL)) found the net for the eighth time this season off assists from freshman Marc Biggs (Plano Texas/Texas Tornado (NAHL)) and sophomore John Scorcia (Hudson, Fla./Motor City (NAHL)) to put Salve up, 5-1.

Just under halfway through the final period, Assumption's junior Nick Mattielo (Johnston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) cut the Seahawk lead to 5-2, netting a goal with just 18 seconds to go in the Greyhound's power play. Sophomore Trevor Plante (Blackstone, Mass./Mt. St. Charles) pulled the guests within two goals with his fourth goal of the season from senior Kevin Meehan (Melrose, Mass./Austin Prep) and junior Ross White (Uxbridge, Mass./Uxbridge).

Scorcia gave the Seahawks some breathing room with 4:30 to play with a goal during Salve's final power play of the game off a pass from sophomore Scott McMenimen (Exter, N.H./Tilton School) to push the Seahawk lead to 6-3.

Naso gave the Seahawks an early lead in the first period with his fifth goal of the year off a pass from freshman Cameron Gaudet (Burlington, Mass./UMass Lowell) just 5:31 into the game. Two minutes later, senior William Gomolinski (Western Springs, Ill./Chicago Flurry) gave Savle a 2-0 lead with goal off an assist from senior Anthony Birbills (Katonah, N.Y./Hebron Academy) and junior Alex Barr (West Milford, N.J./Curry College).

With nine minutes to go in the opening period, John Baldwin (Malden, Mass./St. Mary's) netted the Greyhounds first goal of the game off a pass from junior Matt Calos (North Reading, Mass./North Reading).

The Seahawks return to action when they travel to North Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday, January 12 to take on UMass. – Dartmouth. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
