Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - Salve Regina University women's volleyball opened its season with a 3-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham during action of the Emerson College Tournament.
Senior outside hitter Clare Adams (New Concord, Ohio) paced the attack with a team-high eight kills. Junior Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) spread her sets among several teammates to finish with 20 assists.
The Seahawks never gave up more than 19 points in any game.
"We were pretty confident for our first game," said second-year head coach Lauren Parsons. "But sometimes that confidence can result in a letdown if not channeled properly."
Parsons planned to employ her entire squad in the first game to keep the team fresh for a two-game effort on Saturday.
Three other Seahawks had four kills apiece - juniors Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.) and Tara Kuck (Huntington, N.Y.) along with sophomore Emily Lipinski (Hampden, Mass.).
Salve Regina faces Suffolk on Saturday morning followed by a final game with host Emerson in the afternoon.
