Summary
Defending conference champion UMass Boston defeated Salve Regina University 3-0 in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at St. George's Saturday night.

Series and Streaks
This was the 28th meeting between the two teams. The Beacons now own a 15-12-1 record in the all-time series.

Three Stars of the Game
1 - Salve Regina sophomore Jennifer O'Connell (Marstons Mills, Mass.) - made 38 saves and allowed two goals. Her 479 total saves on the season lead all goalies in the NEHC.
2 -  UMass sophomore Kaleigh Beauregard (Gaylord, Mich.) - scored a third period
3 -  UMass sophomore Alyssa DePippo (Pittsburgh, Pa.) - made 16 saves in the shutout including a number of key stops on breakaways for the Seahawks.

Turning Point
Trailing 1-0 the Seahawks killed off their tenth penalty of the game with under four minutes left to play, with hopes of making a final push to tie the game. The Beacons maintained possession in the Seahwks zone however after returning to five-on-five. The puck came from the left wing through the slot and found Kaleigh Beauregard alone on the right wing side. She walked towards the slot and snapped a shot on net for a score to take the wind out of the Seahawks sails.

Quick Hits

  • The Beacons first got on the board in the second period when a puck was misplayed in front of the net by the Seahawks. It trickled in past O'Connell as an own-goal that was credited to Alli Bianchini (Sterling Heights, Mich.).
  • The Beacons outshot the Seahawks 41-16 in the game.
  • The Seahawks penalty was outstanding tonight, killing off ten penalties, while the Beacons killed off both of their penalties as well.
