Seahawks clinch No. 3 seed and bye to semifinals

BRISTOL, R.I. (November 2, 2019) - Salve Regina University field hockey wins its final regular season game, 2-1, over Roger Williams University and clinches the No. 3 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason.

In the first quarter, Roger Williams scored the first goal of the match eight minutes is. Emma Stevens served up a penalty corner to Alex Coppinger, who buried a shot in goal for a 1-0 RWU lead.

The Hawks' advantage would not last long, as Salve Regina's Tori Bickel found the back of goal two minutes later off a pass from Eliza Timms.

The score remained tied throughout the second period and into halftime. In the third quarter, Ashley Cody notched the game winner eight minutes into the period.

In the fourth quarter, the Hawks attempted to make one last rally in the final minute, making their way down the field. Roger Williams could not get a shot off as Salve Reginaheld on for the win.
