Zimmer scores game-winner for Seahawks vs No. 9 Gulls

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team defeated No. 9 nationally ranked Endicott College 2-1, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday evening at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Tied 1-1 midway through the third period, Damon Zimmer (Camrose, Atla.) snuck in a low shot past Endicott's goaltender via a rush from the left wing to lift the Seahawks to the eventual victory.

Both teams scored in the first period as Derek Contessa (Freehold, N.J.) redirected a shot into the back of the net at the doorstep to make it 1-0 at the 11:49 mark.

Salve Regina countered less than five minutes later with a shorthanded goal by Mitch Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) to even the score and set the stage for Zimmer's third period game-winner.

In goal, Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) made 23 saves (2-1-0), while Nicholas Latinovich (Vaughan, Ont.) had 39 stops in the victory (1-2-0).
