NEWPORT, R.I. (December 7, 2021) - Salve Regina University senior Mikey Spencer (Abington, Mass.) and graduate student Cameron Collins (Montville, Conn.) scored 24 and 23 points, respectively, to lead the Seahawks to a 89-49 win over visiting Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Salve Regina (6-3, 2-1 CCC) scored 60 of its points in the paint and dominated the boards, 56-22. Frankie Santiago (New Britain, Conn.) led the Colonels (1-7, 1-2 CCC) with a dozen points.

A 3-pointer from freshman Declan Walmsley (Franklin, Mass.) gave Salve Regina its first double-digit lead, 13-2, with 14:29 remaining in the first half. Curry went on a 9-2 run over the next three and a half minutes to draw within four points, 15-11, after a 3-pointer from Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.). Clay Brochu (No. Kingstown, R.I.) hit a 3-pointer to start a 30-14 run before the Seahawks closed out the period with 3-pointer at the buzzer from Spencer.

Andrew Richards (Rosedale, N.Y.) got the scoring started in the second half with a driving layup shortly after the Seahawks inbounded the ball. Salve Regina had a 30-point bulge for the first time when Spencer made a layup off a Walmsley assist. Chris Peasley's (Plainfield, Conn.) layup with 2:49 remaining gave Salve Regina its largest lead (42 points; 85-43) which it later matched on a Donnie Aikins (London, England) layup. Aikins' steal in the final seconds prevented the visitors from reaching 50 points.

Brochu finished with 12 points and five assists while Walmsley handed out six helpers.

Salve Regina hosts New England College on Saturday (3 p.m.) to finish the fall semester. Curry entertains Lesley in Milton, Mass., on Thursday (6 p.m.).
