Box Score MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- The Salve Regina men's ice hockey team had dropped two straight before enjoying their two stars' return to the lineup, as USA silver medalists Mitch Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) and Johnny Mulera (Rockville, Md.) helped propel Salve to an 8-2 victory over Johnson & Wales.
The Seahawks opened up the game with fireworks, scoring 5 goals in the first period of play. Two of them, scored by Dylan Price (Calgary, Alta.) and Mulera respectively, came just ten seconds apart at 13:14 and 13:24 of the first.
The second period was not as explosive for Salve as the Wildcats got on the board just 13 seconds in, courtesy of Kody Legassie (Orrington, ME). This was the only scoring action in the second at the hands of Wildcats goaltender Mike Camasso (Bristol, Conn.), who was busy in goal as the netminder set a career high with 49 total saves in the game, including a handful of stellar stops.
Joseph Kile (Troy, Mich.) and the Seahawks offense put the nail in the coffin in the third period, however, as the stud winger netted two goals and assisted on two more in the game, racking up four points during the win. The Seahawks outshot the Wildcats 49-12 in the rout, their most in a game this season.
The Seahawks (8-7-1, 6-6-1 CCC) get a break in action until visiting conference foes in the Nichols Bison (6-11-0, 2-11-0 CCC) on Saturday, 1/28 at 4:40 P.M. at Levy Rink in Harrisville, R.I.
