BREAKDOWN:

  • Period I: The Seahawks and Leopards displayed impressive speed and stick work in period one, however nether team got themselves on the board. Salve Regina went on the power play once after Wentworth served two minutes for cross-checking with 15:59 down in the period.
  • Period II: The Seahawks came out of the intermission hot and thanks to Matthew Fawcett's stickwork, the Seahawks found the net just 23 seconds into period two. Fawcett was assisted by Ian Tookenay. Following Fawcett's goal Salve Regina was called on three consecutive penalties: roughing, hooking and tripping however the Leopards couldn't capitalize and Fawcett's goal remained the only scoring of the game. This gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead going into the final 20 minutes of the game.
  • Period III: Things got exciting for Seahawk and Leopards fans alike with 15 minutes left in the contest. The action started when Jonathan Hammel, assisted by Walter Baumann and Ian Tookenay, brought the score to 2-0. Less than two minutes after Hammel's success Johnny Mulera (from Matthew Fawcett) added to the Seahawk total. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for the Seahawks at 9:24 into the period gave the Leopards the fuel they needed to get themselves their first goal of the day. Leopards' Desmond Johnson scored on a powerplay with nine minutes left, bringing the score to 3-1. Josh Kroon, determined to give Salve Regina more of a cushion, redeemed the team by finding the net off an assist from Matthew Fawcett and Joseph Kile. The Leopards fought back with their second power play goal by Nolan Lowe at 16:25 into the period, the score becoming 4-2. With just over three minutes to go in the game Wentworth made the decision to pull their goalie and, together with a power play opportunity for the Seahawks, the puck sailed off Aidan Coupe's stick into an empty net making the final score 5-2. Coupe was assisted by Garrett Szeremley
