Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. -- The Salve hockey team led late in the third period against No. 3 Endicott College, but allowed three goals in the final five minutes, losing 5-4 in heartbreaking fashion.
The Seahawks once again leaned on their stars for scoring, as forwards Johnny Mulera (Rockville, Md.), Mitch Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.), and Logan Calder (Portage La Prairie, Man.) combined for four goals.
Endicott opened the scoring as Gulls junior forward Cass Bowes (Sturgeon County, Alta.) connected just four minutes into the game. Bowes had four total goals in the semifinal. After Mulera scored first for the Seahawks at 11:35, Bowes scored again just five minutes later on the man-advantage. With just 1:18 remaining in the first, Calder scored his own on the power-play to tie the game at 2-2 after 20 minutes of playoff action.
The second period was much more defensive-minded with Mulera scoring the only goal of the period with 4:52 remaining, scoring on the power-play again to give Salve their first lead going into the second intermission. The third period was more of the same, when Walinski top-shelved a feed from Damon Zimmer (Camrose, Alta.) to double the Seahawks lead and make it 4-2 with seven minutes remaining. The game seemed all but over… until Endicott scored three goals in the span of 3:47 to take the game from Salve 5-4.
