Seahawks complete 2024 with first NEWMAC postseason appearance

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Julia Decker of Salve Regina University field hockey scored in the 18th minute of play against Wellesley College, yet the Blue managed four different goal scorers to send them to the NEWMAC semifinals. Since joining the conference last year, this is the program's first postseason appearance.

Wellesley's Katie Golla scored her first goal of the season and her third career goal seven minutes into the game. Claudia Summers added in to make it 2-0 shortly into the second quarter. However, Georgia Gostello snaked to the top of the shooting circle and passed to Decker who was right in front of the goal immediately after Summers' goal. Decker just had to tap it in to get the the Seahawks their first points in NEWMAC postseason play.

With a strong offensive unit Wellesly fired off 11 shots in the second half, two of which materialized into goals, while they held Salve Regina at bay. The Seahawks finish a notable season with an overall record of 11-8 and a conference record of 4-5.
