MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (Tuesday, December 3, 2024)-- The Connecticut College Camels overcame the Salve Regina University Seahawks women's ice hockey team 3-0 in non-conference play on Tuesday night after a scoreless first period.

History: The Seahawks have a 3-13-4 all-time record against the Camels. Last year's encounter ended in a 2-2 tie, but the prior seven meetings were all losses for the Seahawks. The most recent win was a 3-2 victory on November 30, 2013.
NOTEWORTHY
- Salve Regina started the game with five to Connecticut's ten shots on net in the first period but no score. Reese Pereira almost got the Seahawks an early lead with a breakaway play right in front of the net in a short-handed situation, however the Seahawks were unable to convert.
- The first scoring of the game came in period two when a Camels' power play allowed Connecticut to gain momentum. Miyu Miyazaki faked a back handed shot and sent it over to teammate Caitlin Pierce who scored her third goal of the season.
- The Camels were able to rebound with another success just over a minute later from Ashely Engle.
- Before the game ended Connecticut found one more goal following a save by Taylor Hannafan that recoiled off the shoulder of Serena Seiple and made its way into the net.
- The encounter only involved four penalties with an equal time spend in the box for the Seahawks and Camels.
- Hannafan made 23 saves while Connecticut goalie Jillian Wexler put a stop to 15 shots.

Women's ice hockey won't take to the ice in a game again until January 4, 2025. Anna Maria College hosts Salve Regina at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, in Worcester, Massachusetts.
