History: Salve Regina has won the last three meetings in women's ice hockey against Johnson & Wales. Earlier this year, the Seahawks second game of the season, the Seahawks beat the Wildcats 2-1 on the road. Sarah Bush scored her first collegiate goal just under three minutes into the game. Ashtyn Bringardner extended the lead 2-0 seven minutes into the second period. However, Johnson & Wales did sink a goal of their own ten seconds later. JWU's Reese Middendorf poked it in the corner of the goal to make it a 2-1 game, with the Seahawks still in the lead.

NOTEWORTHY
  • The Seahawks out shot the Wildcats 11-6 in the first 20 minutes of the game, however all attempts were fruitless until period two.
  • Sophia Brea and Sadie Davignon scored within three minutes of each other in the first half of period two.
  • While the Seahawks didn't make it on the board until the last 15 minutes of the contest, Ashtyn Bringardner scored her seventh goal of the season to bring the score to 2-1 with Salve Regina trailing. Bringardner is Salve Regina's leading goal scorer this season. She currently sits in second in total points with 10, just behind the leader, Emily Wroblewski ,who has 11.
  • Sydney Baxter made 18 saves while Wildcats' Katelyn Cardoso posted 26 over the course of the game. Baxter spent all but 1:44 on the ice, when the team decided to pull their goalie at the end of the game.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH LUN
"It wasn't the outcome we wanted. We out chanced them and looking at the stats sheet we out shot them--not that that's the end all be all-- but I thought at times we carried the play but we couldn't execute. That's one of our achilles heel's-- our execution and our awareness of that. It's something that we've been trying to focus on and work on. The effort is there. Certain elements within that effort were lackluster. It's a good learning piece, I hope the team learned something from that experience. You can outplay teams but still lose. There are some things that we need to focus on for sure. We're a young bunch and we're still trying to figure it out but we've got a way to go. There's still a lot of the season left and we're going back to NEHC play where it means more. We'll focus on that going forward."
