MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (Friday, October 31, 2025)-- To open the 2025-26 season the Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team shutout the University of Southern Maine 4-0 with four different Seahawks scoring.
Salve Regina's first goal of the season was a shorthanded snipe from
Jonathan Hammel '26 at 16:24 in the first period. Hammel was followed up by
Aidan Connolly '26 and
Logan Calder '26 with second period goals and
Matthew Brunton '26 who converted in the third period.
With today's victory newly appointed head coach Jay Punsky (Salve Regina '07) earns his first win with the program.

Records: Salve Regina (1-0-0), Southern Maine (0-1-0)
History: This is the Seahawks' first victory over Southern Maine in series history. The Seahawks are now 1-6 all-time against the Huskies. Last year the Huskies beat the Seahawks twice in overtime 3-2. Prior to those encounters the most recent meeting of the teams happened in the 2009-10 season.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Selby Warren '27 achieved his second career shutout in net for the Seahawks. Warren made 26 saves.
- The Seahawks outshot the Huskies 37-26.
- Calder's goal earned the host their first power play goal of the season.

Next Friday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. men's ice hockey will host Anna Maria College at Howard Rink.
