Seahawks fall to Pride despite second half goal

Leclair's goal off Perachi header cuts deficit in half

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University women's soccer team cut its deficit in half when junior Carah Leclair [Bellingham, Mass.] scored her first goal of 2025 just 13 minutes into the second half but Springfield College held on for a 2-1 victory in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Reynolds Field in Newport, Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon.

Graduate student Mu Kue (Hartford, Conn.) scored her first goal of the year for the Pride (3-6, 2-1 NEWMAC) on a free kick just outside the box in the game's 12th minute. Springfield had a 2-0 lead three minutes later when Meredith Healy (Niantic, Conn.) finished off a feed from Kaitlyn Suller (Oviedo, Fla.).

The Seahawks outshot the Pride in both halves, overall by a 19-12 margin including a 10-6 advantage on target.

Leclair's goal followed a corner kick from Allie Gallagher (Staten Island, N.Y.) that Marissa Perachi (Washington Depot, Conn.) headed out of the grasp of Pride goalkeeper Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.). Perachi's assist was her second of the season and upped her team-leading point total to four. The Seahawks (3-6-1, 1-2 NEWMAC) have scored five goals (from five different players) in 10 games this season.
