CLINTON, N.Y. -- Salve Regina University women's basketball plays in Day Two of the Hamilton College Tip-Off Classic against the Cardinals of St. John Fisher University on Saturday afternoon at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
The Seahawks picked up their first win of the season in their first ever meeting with the Cardinals, 61-57.
Sofia Neary (Wayne, N.J.) scored six first-quarter points to help the Seahawks build a seven-point advantage (21-14) after the first 10 minutes. She became the 18th player to reach the 1,000-point milestone and first Seahawk since
Ashley Rourke reached the plateau last January. Sofia joins her sister, Briana, as the only siblings on the women's 1,000-point club while Kaitlyn Birrell and Ryan Birrell are the only sister-brother pair to be on their 1,000-point achievement lists.
