BIDDEFORD, Maine. -- Led by
Samantha McKenzie who secured a hat trick, Salve Regina University women's ice hockey defeated the University of New England on the road 5-2 Saturday evening at the Harold Alfond Forum.
McKenzie netted two of her three goals in the first period and
Ashtyn Bringardner added to the tally giving the Seahawks a 3-0 lead after just 20 minutes of action. The Seahawks and the Nor'easters scored one goal apiece in the remaining two periods. For Salve Regina,
Kiersten Rasmussen found the back of the net at the 12:16 mark in the third period in addition to McKenzie's goal in the second frame.

History: Salve Regina is 7-13-3 all-time against UNE. Last year the Seahawks and Nor'easters did not face off, however the teams saw each other three times over the course of the 2023-24 season in which the Seahawks saw two losses and one 2-2 tie.
