SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- No.5 seed Salve Regina University field hockey fell 2-1 in a close contest to hosting No.4 seed Springfield College to end their postseason run in 2025.
It was a competitive first half with Springfield getting on the board 5:30 into the game and Salve Regina's
Georgia Costello tying it up 1-1 at the 12:50 mark.
Springfield broke the stalemate at the 39:39 mark when they were able to send a deflected shot back in the direction of the goal to pull ahead 2-1.

History: Salve Regina is 2-2 all-time against Springfield in field hockey. In 2023 and 2024 the Seahawks beat the Pride in NEWMAC regular season play. This fall Springfield found a close 3-2 win over the Seahawks at Gaudet Field.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Salve Regina fired off six shots on goal while Springfield launched 11 of their own.
- Both teams were even on penalty corners with four opportunities each.
- Georgia Costello scored her 15th goal of the season and 44th career goal.
