INSIDE THE MATCHUP
Final
: Salve Regina 1, William Smith 0
Records: Salve Regina (14-9-0,12-4-0 NEHC), William Smith (10-12-1,10-6-0 NEHC)
History: Yesterday the Herons, with Erin Murray in net, prevented the Seahawks from getting on the board entirely. Despite 21 shots on goal the Herons strong defensive unit in combination with Mackenzie O'Neil's book ended goals of Fiona Gallagher's second period strike awarded the host a victory. Murray collected her seventh shutout of the season and 12th of her career.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Reese Pereira broke a 40 minute impasse one minute into the last period. Samantha McKenzie fired off a cross-ice pass to Pereira who advanced down the left side. The Seahawks took a 1-0 lead on the power play which left the Herons playing from behind. Colleen Quirk of William Smith was sent to the box 19:40 into the second period and this penalty carried over to the third period which gave Salve Regina the extra skater advantage they needed.
  • Freshman goalie Taylor Hannafan picked up her seventh career win with 25 saves against the Herons. This is the second of two shutouts by Hannafan this year. She protected the net when the team defeated Elmira College 1-0 on January 25. Hannafan has made 261 saves this season. She made a game high 38 saves when the Seahawks beat Elmira 3-1 on January 24.
  • Murray made 33 saves for the Herons. The most shots on net she faced from the Seahawks was 13 in the second period.
  • Both teams were evenly matched in the circle with a 31-31 face off record for the game.
