ELMIRA, N.Y. (Saturday, March 1, 2025)-- Salve Regina University women's ice hockey ended their first season in the NEHC in the Semifinals with a 4-2 loss to the host, Elmira College after the Soaring Eagles sank four unanswered goals in the first and second periods.

History: Salve Regina beat Elmira twice earlier this season with 3-1 and 1-0 victories.
Riley Esposito scored the game winning goal in the second period of the 1-0 shutout. Goalie
Taylor Hannafan made 75 saves across the two games.
NOTEWORTHY
- Following a face off, which was won by the Soaring Eagles, McKenzie Schmidt converted Elmira's first goal, just over three minutes into the game.
- The 1-0 scored held for 20 minutes but Elmira was able to find the back of the net three times in the second period. Four different Soaring Eagles scored.
- Salve Regina staged a comeback in the third period with Riley Esposito and Emily Wroblewski scoring within 25 seconds of each other in the first four minutes of the period.
- Elmira outshot Salve Regina 28-17.
- Taylor Hannafan made 24 saves in the 57:40 that she spent on the ice.
ON THE HORIZON
Women's ice hockey ends the season in the NEHC Semifinals. Elmira advances to the Finals on Saturday, March 8, at the No.1 seed Norwich Univeristy at 3 p.m.
