Wil McCarthy goes 4-for-4 in nightcap with double, three RBI

NEWPORT, R.I. (Saturday, March 22, 2025) -- #5/#6 Salve Regina University baseball bounced back from a midweek setback with a doubleheader sweep over the visiting Eagles of Husson University, 8-0 and 7-3, on Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Field. Seahawk graduate student Brayden Clark (W, 5-0) went seven shutout innings in the opener with a dozen Ks while Nick Callano finished the final two with five strikeouts. In the nightcap, Wil McCarthy went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and drove in three runs.

History: Today marks the eighth and ninth meetings on the baseball diamond between Salve Regina and Husson. The first took place on April 1, 1984, with no result listed. The most recent meetings were a twinbill on Reynolds Field two years ago with the Seahawks sweeping the Eagles, 8-3 and 3-0. Tyler Petrosino had an RBI in each game against Husson. Salve Regina now owns a 6-2 mark in the all-time series including a pair of doubleheader splits in Florida (2006 -- W, 12-11; L, 13-5 | 2009 -- W, 6-0; L, 4-2).
