Seahawks drop a pair against Beavers

Salve Regina battles Babson in both ends of NEWMAC doubleheader

BABSON PARK, Mass. (Sunday, April 27, 2025) -- Salve Regina University softball scored three runs in the top of the fifth of Game One to close within one (4-3), but Babson College stifled the threat and finished with a 6-3 win before sweeping the NEWMAC doubleheader with a 1-0 final in Game Two.

Emily Moskal and Skylar Wicklund opened the fifth with singles and the Seahawks got on the board with a sacrifice fly from Sam Franceschi. Wicklund came home when Emily Lane reached on a fielding error and then Emily Cronin delivered Lane with an RBI double to right center. Those would be the only three runs scored by the Seahawks against the Beavers.

In the nightcap, Caroline Peterson pitched a complete game and held the Beavers to fewer hits (three) than her offensive mates collected (five). Sam Franceschi had two of the five Seahawk hits including a first-inning triple with two outs. Morganti Bello doubled in the second but was stranded at third.
