Seahawks, Bears split non-league softball doubleheader

Oswald homers in Game 1; Cosciello homers in Game 2

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (Thursday, May 1, 2025) -- Madeleine Oswald went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double to lead Salve Regina University softball to a 9-2 win in the opener of a non-league doubleheader at Bridgewater State University at Alumni Park on Thursday afternoon. The Bears rallied from a 4-2 deficit (after Jacey Cosciello hit a two-run, inside-the-park home run for the Seahawks) and won the nightcap, 7-4, to gain the split.

Seahawk starter Shea Murphy (W, 2-2) went the distance in the opener for her second win of the season.

History: With its win in Game One, Salve Regina tied the all-time series at 3-3 before the Bears stepped ahead again. The first-ever meetings took place in Florida in 2009 (Bears swept a doubleheader) and 2010 (Seahawks won, 7-3).
