NEWPORT, R.I.-- 15 student-athletes across the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey and men's ice hockey teams have been named Krampade All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
To qualify for the ninth annual All-American Scholars program student-athletes must have attained a 3.75 GPA in each semester of the 2024-25 academic year and have played in 40% of team's games. Schools must be an active member of the AHCA.
In total, 1,123 Division II-III men (664) and women (459) received the All-American Scholar honor for the 2024-25 season.
"Having seven of our players recognized through the AHCA All-American Scholar program is exactly what we strive for here at Salve," mentioned head men's ice hockey coach
Zech Klann. "We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes—not only for competing at a high level on the ice but also for representing our hockey program with distinction in the classroom. Earning national academic honors reflects their commitment to excellence in all areas, and we couldn't be prouder."
"I'm extremely proud of the representation that we have with our AHCA All-American Scholars," added head women's ice hockey coach
David Lun. "It's a difficult task to balance the day to day of being in a competitive NCAA DIII program while still maintaining a high standard for academics. Their hard work shows both on the ice and in the classroom-- with one of the most productive seasons in women's hockey program history and earning recognition as an All-American Scholar! The proof is in the outcomes... Job well done to this lot."
