Salve Regina, UMass Boston open 2025 with a scoreless draw

Nick Giorgi posts six saves between the posts for the Seahawks

BOSTON - (Friday, August 29, 2025) - Salve Regina University men's soccer opened its 2025 campaign at UMass Boston and the Seahawks-Beacons battled to a scoreless draw over their 90 minutes of action at James Cotter Field.

The Beacons controlled the pace and possession throughout the match, out shooting the visiting Seahawks by a commanding 24-10 margin, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. UMass Boston's relentless pressure generated quality chances, particularly in the second half, where they fired off 18 shots.

Salve Regina had a last-minute advance to steal a win, but shots by Aaron Muncaster, Liam Barnett, and Zach Brown missed the target. Nick Giorgi played the full 90 minutes between the posts and made six saves. His counterpart, JJ Devine, had two stops -- both coming in the last eight minutes after the Beacons were down to 10 men on the field.
