Wiejkus' goal in 89th minute wins game for Seahawks

NEWPORT, R.I. -- (Wednesday, September 10, 2025) -- Salve Regina University women's soccer senior Sara Wiejkus (Marshfield, Mass.) converted a through pass from classmate Marissa Perachi (Washington Depot, Conn.) in the 89th minute to lift the Seahawks over visiting Gordon College, 1-0, in non-league action at Reynolds Field in Newport, Rhode Island. Wiejkus' goal was the first of the season for the Seahawks, who won their first game of 2025, and defeated the Scots for the first time since 2015.

History: The Seahawks and Scots are meeting for the 37th time. The Scots lead the all-time series (25-9-3). Salve Regina last won in the series in 2015 (3-2 in Wenham, Mass.) and the teams drew 0-0 the next year in Newport.
