Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Seahawks blank Sharks, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass -- (Thursday, September 11, 2025)-- Salve Regina University women's volleyball surpassed Simmons University 3-0 with two decisive wins in sets one and three and a rewarding 27-25 victory in set two.

Salve Regina opened the day with force to establish a 4-0 lead right away thanks to a service ace from Lucy Swanson. A five point run to bring the score from 15-11 to 19-11 solidified the Seahawks lead in the opening frame. Although the Sharks inched forward, the Seahawks held them off 25-21 in set one. 

The Sharks took a lead to start set two and each team fought to control the set however the score reached 25-25 but an attack error by the Sharks and a block by Anouk Jansen and Francesca Spadorcia closed out the set 27-25. 

The visiting Seahawks took charge of set three and never trailed with a conclusive 25-12 win and 3-0 match triumph.

History: Salve Regina has an 6-1 all-time record against Simmons. The Seahawks only loss to the Sharks was a 3-1 verdict on September 12, 2024. In 2023 Salve beat Simmons 3-2 in a five-setter on the Sharks home court.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Salve Regina had a collective 34 kills and a hitting percentage of .256.
  • Lucy Swanson and Lauren Shurling tied for the lead in the kill category with eight apiece. 
  • Madelyn Homer topped the dig column with 17.
  • Francesca Spadorcia was a force on defense with four blocks.
ON THE HORIZON:
On Saturday, September 13, women's volleyball will play in a tri-match hosted by Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. The Seahawks face Clarkson University at 1 p.m. and Endicott at 3 p.m.
