Lions pounce for 2-1 win over Seahawks

NEWPORT, R.I. - In the team's second NEWMAC contest of the year, the Seahawks fell 2-1 to the Lions of Emerson College Saturday afternoon on Reynolds field. It was freshman Paige Jessuck (Waterford, Conn.) who put the Salve Regina on the board in the early in the first half for her first goal of the season, assisted by junior Olivia Tacconi (Waldwick, N.J.).

Rowan McCrary (Washington, D.C.) scored the game winner in the 76th minute.

All-Time Series: Salve Regina and Emerson College meet for the fifth time for a women's soccer contest, and third as members of the NEWMAC. The Seahawks won a pair of meetings in the 1990s, 3-0 (1993) and 4-1 (1997), while the Lions have taken all three meetings in the NEWMAC, 2-1 (2023 in Newport), 2-0 (2024 in Boston), and 2-1 today. Last year at Rotch Field, Kayla Sweeney scored a first half goal and Yoshiko Slater added an insurance tally in the second half.
