Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gallagher's goal gives Salve Regina a draw at Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. (October 17, 2026) -- Salve Regina University women's soccer, ranked sixth in the region in NCAA Division III, battled the Blue of Wellesley College to a 1-1 draw in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup on the road.

Sophomore Elena Garcia (Atlanta, Ga.) was the goal scorer for the Blue (5-6-3 Overall, 2-3-2 NEWMAC). At the 3:20 mark of the first half, Garcia connected on a third goal of the season off of a well-placed through ball pass from first-year Areet Rao (Palo Alto, Calif.). Garcia spotted a shot in the right-hand side of the net.

The Seahawks (7-3-4 Overall, 4-2-1 NEWMAC) countered in the 23rd minute. A cross on the right side from first-year Maddie Smith (Norwell, Mass.) gave senior Allie Gallagher (State Island, N.Y.) a header chance. The senior put away a fifth goal of the year to even up the score.

Neither team recorded another goal, despite close efforts. The Seahawks ended with a close 19-17 shot lead. First-year Maya Fraser (Leverett, Mass.) placed three attempts on goal for Wellesley.

Wellesley sophomore Olivia Lore (Blue Bell, Pa.) made eight stops in the tie. Salve Regina senior Sabrina Lawless (Milford, Conn.) saved six shots on goal.

Each team is back in action on Wednesday, October 21. The Blue will play a 7:00 p.m. game at Springfield College and the Seahawks will host Coast Guard Academy at 3:00 p.m.
