WINCHENDON, Mass. -- The Salve Regina men's ice hockey team delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night, overpowering the Franklin Pierce University Ravens 8–1 behind a strong offensive attack and solid defensive action.
The Seahawks fell behind early when Franklin Pierce struck just 44 seconds into the first period, but Salve Regina quickly regrouped and responded before the period expired, tying the game on a power play goal by
Aidan Connolly. From there, Salve Regina took over.
Salve Regina's offense surged in the second period with four unanswered goals, highlighted by a pair from
Cade DeStefani and another from
Matthew Brunton. By the second intermission, the Seahawks held a commanding 5–1 lead.
In the third period, Salve Regina continued to apply pressure. Brunton added his second goal of the night while
Grant Hineman tallied a short-handed goal to extend the lead further. Brunton capped the scoring late in the period to make it 8–1.
