MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Salve Regina university women's lacrosse picked up a 15-5 victory over in state rivalry, Rhode Island College in the 2026 home opener at Gaudet Field on Wednesday.
Salve Regina controlled the matchup from the opening whistle, building an early lead and never looking back. The Seahawks established momentum in the first quarter, edging ahead 3–2 before erupting in the second frame. A dominant 7–0 second quarter pushed Salve Regina ahead 10–2 at halftime, putting the host firmly in command.
Coming out of the break, the Seahawks continued to dictate the pace. Salve Regina added four goals in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 14–3. Rhode Island College managed to find the net a few times down the stretch, but the Seahawks' defense and steady play in goal limited any potential comeback. Salve Regina closed the game with one more tally in the fourth quarter to secure the 10-goal victory.
Daniella Bruno was the Seahawks' leading goal scorer with five over the course of the game. Bruno's efforts were supported by teammates Nora Cooney (four goals and one assist) and Madison Maire (three goals).
