#4 Seahawks complete season sweep over Engineers

Salve Regina def. WPI, 13-1, in seven innings

NORTHBORO, Mass. (March 31, 2026) -- The WPI baseball team dropped a 13-1 decision to nationally-ranked Salve Regina in a seven inning NEWMAC contest on Tuesday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex. The Engineers move to 9-8 (0-2 NEWMAC), while the No. 4 Seahawks improve to 14-2 (2-0 NEWMAC).

Salve Regina built a steady early lead before breaking the game open with a seven-run seventh inning to seal the victory.

WPI scattered five hits on the afternoon, with Liam Keblin (Newton, Mass.), Jacob Wiberg (Exeter, NH), Trice Cote (Milford, N.H.), Luke Frauton (Medway, Mass.), and Sascha Stoll (Boise, Idaho) each recording one. Ben Seidler (Yardley, Pa.) drove in the Engineers' lone run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

Dominic Monico (Litchfield, N.H.) took the loss, going six innings and allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits with three walks and a strikeout.

Salve Regina was led offensively by Shane Williams (Georgetown, Mass.), who went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored. James Anastasopoulos (Sherborn, Mass.) added three hits, three RBI, and two runs, while Jake Harring (Portsmouth, N.H.) drove in a pair.

Luis Ortiz Ramirez (Boston, Mass.) earned the win, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out six.

The Seahawks opened the scoring with three runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Harring. Williams extended the lead with a solo home run in the third before two unearned runs in the fourth made it 6-0.

Salve Regina then erupted for seven runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 13-0. The inning highlighted by a two-run single from Anastasopoulos, a two-run double by Williams, and an RBI single from Danny Rogers (New Canaan, Conn.).

WPI threatened in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases on consecutive singles from Stoll, Cote, and Frauton. Seidler then entered as a pinch hitter and lifted a sacrifice fly to center to bring home Stoll for the Engineers' lone run. However, the hosts rally was halted on a game-ending strikeout.

Both teams return to action later this week. WPI hosts MIT on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in a NEWMAC matchup, while Salve Regina travels to Johnson & Wales on Thursday at 3 p.m.
