NEWPORT, R.I. (March 31, 2026) -- Juniors
Emily Cronin (Coventry, R.I.) and
Madeleine Oswald (Whippany, N.J.) both went 5-for-8 in a doubleheader sweep for Salve Regina University over visiting Lesley University, 7-1 and 17-1, the latter shortened to five innings with the mercy rule.
Seahawk senior
Caroline Peterson (Halifax, Mass.) hurled her 200th career strikeout in a starting performance in Game One and earned her first victory of the season while Cronin picked up the save in relief. In the nightcap,
Shea Murphy (Westfield, N.J.) went the distance to pick up her second victory as the Seahawks plated 17 runs in the first three innings with a lot of first-pitch swinging.
Game 1 - Salve Regina 7, Lesley 1
Peterson struck out the side in both the first and second innings while stranding five base runners as the Lynx worked the bases loaded on walks in the first and had two free passes in the second. Oswald had RBI singles in the second and third innings before
Leecy Cruz (San Antonio, Texas) scored an unearned run to cut the Lynx deficit in half.
In the Seahawk fourth,
Skyla Oliveira (Smithfield, R.I.) singled with one out and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Lillian Bridges (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) before racing around to score following an errant throw into center field. After a leadoff walk in the top of the fifth, Cronin came in from left field to relieve Peterson in the circle and stranded two more Lynx with a pair of swinging strikeouts. Then Cronin led off the bottom of the frame with a double and advanced to third on a fly out to right.
Abby Merck (Lorton, Va.) drove her in with a two-out single to right.
Leading 4-1 into the sixth, three straight pinch hitters for the Seahawks --
Taylor Ferraiolo (Madison, Conn.),
Darian DiMuzio (New Canaan, Conn.), and
Victoria Geisser (Scituate, R.I.) -- reached with singles. Ferraiolo scored on Geisser's basehit and DiMuzio came home on a fielder's choice.
Emma Plourde (Stratham, N.H.) scored the final run of the game on a wild pitch.
Game 2 - Salve Regina 17, Lesley 1 (five innings)
Murphy
 retired the first three batters she faced while her teammates brought 11 to the plate in the bottom of the first and scored seven runs. Bridges led off with a bunt single, advanced to second on a throwing error, and then to third on Ferraiolo's sac bunt. Plourde doubled in the first run and later scored on Cronin's single. Oswald singled and was followed by an RBI double from
Gracie Keyes (Portsmouth, R.I.). Merck drove in a pair with a single and came home on Bridges' triple to right center.
Marissa De La Rosa (Phoenix, Ariz.) led off the next frame with a single and scored an unearned run after a Seahawk throwing error.
Plourde earned a four-pitch walk to start the Seahawk second before Cronin and Oswald had first-pitch base hits, the latter plating Plourde with a double. A full-count pitch to Keyes was drilled to left for another double and driving in two more runs. A single to Merck and ball four to
Ryann Burke (Nutley, N.J.) loaded the bases for Bridges who doubled to left for a double-digit lead, 12-1. Burke made it 13-1 when she came home on a ground out.
Keyes' second double of the night came in the four-run third inning. Geisser, Burke, and Ferraiolo also added RBI singles. Three Seahawk pitchers held the Lynx to just four base hits on the day withÂ
