Beavers sweep Seahawks at Toppa Field

NEWPORT, R.I. (April 24, 2026) -- Salve Regina University softball freshman outfielder Ryann Burke (Nutley, N.J.) had three singles to right field in today's doubleheader against Babson College, but the visiting Beavers outscored the Seahawks by a mercy margin in both games, sweeping the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) twinbill, 11-3 and 9-0, in five innings each game.

In the opener, Babson (15-18, 7-7 NEWMAC) jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead before Salve Regina matched the visitors with a three-spot of their own. Emma Plourde (Stratham, N.H.) doubled home Abby Merck (Lorton, Va.) with the first Seahawk run and then Gracie Keyes (Portsmouth, R.I.) lifted a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Emily Cronin (Coventry, R.I.). Burke's first single delivered Plourde with the game-tying run.

Both teams brought nine batters to the plate in their first at-bats, scored three, and stranded three.

After the Beavers scored an unearned run in the second, Ruby Madia (Princeton Junction, N.J.) tripled to right center in the third to go up by two, 5-3. A six-run top of the fifth put it away for Babson.

Madia had another RBI base hit while Charly Landow (Wayne, Pa.), Emily Walsh (Flemington, N.J.), Lexi Sealy (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), Belle DiCampello (Pottstown, Pa.) had run-producing doubles.

Sealy (W, 3-2) went the distance in the opener after the early-inning struggles to pick up the win.

Babson scored four runs in the opening frame of the nightcap on a pair of base hits including a well-place double on the left field line by Sealy. Burke accounted for the only Salve Regina hits against Katie Vlacich (Concord, N.H.) who struck out five Seahawks in her fourth win of the season.

Salve Regina celebrates Senior Day for Caroline Peterson (Halifax, Mass.) and Skylar Wicklund (Riverhead, N.Y.) before hosting Wheaton College in a NEWMAC doubleheader on Saturday with a first pitch at noon on FloCollege. Babson welcomes Clark University for a noon twinbill in Wellesley, Mass.
