Seahawks celebrate Senior Day for Peterson, Wicklund

Lyons sweep softball doubleheader, 5-4 and 9-1

NEWPORT, R.I. (April 25, 2026) -- One day after Wheaton College softball pitcher Sofia De La Rosa (Middle Village, N.Y.) blanked nationally-ranked MIT, 1-0, the Salve Regina University squad knocked her out of the game after 4.2 innings and had the winning run on second base before Brittany Dost (Centereach, N.Y.) closed the door to secure a 5-4 Lyons' victory in Game One of a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader at Toppa Field in Newport, Rhode Island. Wheaton (17-14, 7-9 NEWMAC) swept Salve Regina with a 9-1 final (in five innings) in the nightcap.

Before the game, Salve Regina celebrated seniors on both squads, a half-dozen Lyons -- Amber Arcand (Millville, Mass.), Peyton Blankenheim-Brown (Rio Linda, Calif.), Ashlyn Burt (Olathe, Kan.), Maggie Caron (Boxford, Mass.), Riley Dolan (Coram, N.Y.) and Dost -- plus a pair of Seahawks -- Caroline Peterson (Halifax, Mass.) and Skylar Wicklund (Riverhead, N.Y.).

Peterson pitched a complete game in the opener and allowed just two earned runs with a pair of Ks. Wicklund went 2-for-3 at the plate in the opener while ranging far in right field for five putouts.

Blankenheim-Brown allowed just four singles to the Seahawks in the nightcap, including an RBI base hit through the left side by Ryann Burke (Nutley, N.J.), as Lyons' offensive hero Ella Molinari (Grafton, Mass.) dominated at the plate with a home run in both games (the first round-trippers at Toppa Field in 2026 for any team) while finishing 4-for-4 with three bases on balls and a hit by pitch.

Salve Regina (3-31, 0-18 NEWMAC) finishes its regular season next week with a home non-leage doubleheader versus Roger Williams University on April 28 and a NEWMAC twinbill at Emerson College on May 1. Both events are on FloCollege.
